OverviewThe Crest WSL is a high-precision industrial slitter rewinder and optional laminator designed for tension-sensitive converters of flexible films, specialty foams and composite laminates. It integrates pneumatic circular slitting, loop-controlled center winding and an optional inline lamination station (including an inline Corona treatment unit) to enable single-pass or dual-pass lamination and slitting workflows while preventing material deformation, telescoping and air inclusion.
Key features- Pneumatic circular knives for accurate, burr-free slitting (crush-cutting) with fast, operator-friendly knife changeovers.
- Loop-controlled / closed-loop tension control and specialized center winding to ensure deformation-free winding and consistent roll quality.
- Optional integrated inline laminator enabling single-pass lamination or an optimized dual-pass workflow (foam activation + backing application).
- Inline Corona surface activation for improved adhesive anchoring on non-porous or specialty foam substrates.
- Dual-roller nip system for precise lamination with elimination of micro-air inclusions and homogeneous composite quality.
- Adjustable nip roll height and pressure for precise lamination control.
- Heavy-duty, jumbo-ready platform built for high uptime and rapid job changeovers.
Typical applications- Slitting and laminating specialty foams without causing structural deformation or cell collapse.
- Manufacture of flexographic backing assemblies and high-bond adhesive laminates.
- Single-pass and multi-pass lamination workflows for high-value, tension-sensitive materials.
- High-volume converting operations requiring minimized scrap and maximized material yield.
Suitable materials- Technical foam laminates (examples referenced: ProBAK®, Softprint®, Cushion-Mount™).
- Flexographic backing foams and compressible foams.
- Polyester (PET) and PVC plastic backing films.
- High-tack self-adhesive laminates, protective films and release liners.
Typical workflow (dual-pass example)PASS 1: Foam activation & adhesive coatingThe specialty foam is unwound, passed through the Corona Treatment Unit for surface activation, then a high-tack adhesive layer is laminated under precise nip pressure to guarantee a durable bond.
PASS 2: Plastic backing application & final slittingThe laminated adhesive foam is fed back in; the plastic backing film is applied (Corona unit off) and pneumatic circular knives perform final precision slitting to customer-specified widths while loop-controlled tension preserves roll integrity.
Performance benefits- Maximized yield and minimized scrap via precise pneumatic slitting and responsive loop tensioning.
- Zero-defect composite quality through center-winding control and dual-roller lamination to remove micro-air inclusions.
- Heavy-duty industrial uptime with flexible 3" and 6" shaft handling and fast, toolless changeovers for short-run agility.
Frequently noted commercial/after-sales noteA multi-year warranty program is available under service agreement terms (manufacturer-provided warranty conditions specified by the manufacturer).
